From the 1920's through the early 1960's, Radio was the main means of entertainment. Programs like The Shadow, Gangbusters,
Amos n Andy and many other mystery, comedy, horror and more played each night over your battery powered radio.
TV was either not around or too expensive to own. Not to mention there were only a few TV shows around. And they were not very good. Radio shows like The Jack Benny program ran for many years. Shows like Captain Midnight were continued each week for many years. Detective shows like Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar were considered to be one of the best shows of all time on radio. Each week Johnny Dollar would start his program by reading you his expense account and going into the show for this week.
